When to Travel

We are planning a week in London next summer but have not nailed down a specific week. We are open to travel between June, 9 and want to be home by Aug 25th. Are there any specific weeks to avoid? Any weeks that are preferred?

Thanks for any input

Our preference when we were working in education was last week of May to mid June. Now we are retired we prefer mid Sep to late Oct. July and August will be, can be hot to very hot so I would vote for you in early June. At that time of year tourist crowds will be heavy everywhere. Brits don't celebrate the 4th so you don't have to worry about that week.

The English school holidays start last week in July to first week in September so those weeks are peak tourist season. There are no public holidays during your dates. The closer to 21 June you visit you'll benefit from longer hours of daylight. Impossible to predict the weather on any given day.

London is always busy but absorbs the crowds, so don't be put off if some major event is taking place.

June-July is the London 'Season'.
2017 dates as follows...
June 17 Trooping of the Colour
June 20-24 Royal Ascot Racing
June 28-July 2 Henley Royal Regatta
July 3-16 Wimbledon
July 6-10 Lords Cricket Test

Accommodation charges are usually less steep come August.
