Hi all! I have been to Windsor twice. We saw the castle and headed back to London. However, this time my son's HS Marching Band is participating in the London New Year's Day Parade (I'm chaperoning) and they have scheduled us for a whole day at Windsor from 9am to 4pm, and from what I remember the castle isn't going to take us that long. After asking some questions my sense is that we are not going to just be allowed to go somewhere else, they've planned guided tours of the castle for the middle of the day, and we won't be allowed to miss it and willingly forfeit the money we've already paid to go do something we'd rather do on a more sensible schedule. So, any ideas of what else to do with high schoolers in Windsor?
Definitely Eton, which is right across the river from Windsor. Also walk around Windsor town, and lots of souvenir shopping opportunities.
If you have a good chunk of time in the morning, taking a bus to Runnymede would be a good activity with the high-schoolers.
Runnymede and Eton are definitely things I'll look into. I hate shopping so that's a hard pass. Thanks!
Walking through Windsor Great Park is fabulous but not sure that high schoolers who have marched in a parade will think that's a great idea! Definitely Eton and at least walk through Windsor town.
I can think of a lot of places I chaperoned that were not fun. To me being in charming Windsor is not the worst thing to happen. What a fun place to be in a parade!
Congrats on going to the parade albeit the weather has been cold and raining the past two years.
Erin college has several free museums worthy of attention. Consider reaching out to them and explaining your quest to determine if they can be of help.
Thanks Steven I will!
