While looking at the Thames River boat tours from Westminster Pier to Kew Pier (to see Kew Gardens), I noticed that Kew Pier is permanently closed. I haven't found any information regarding an alternative pier close to Kew Gardens on the Thames River Boats site. Do you know anything about this?
I don't see anywhere on the website where it says the pier is permanently closed.
It was in use until the very end of the 2024 season. There are no sailings to any pier over the winter by Thames River Boats but they will restart just before Easter.
Nor do I see anything on the Port of London Authority website- they own the pier.
Timetables and bookings will be added probably sometime in late March.
Putney is as far West as river cruises go in winter, on Thames Clippers.
EDIT- Bookings from Westminster to Kew are open now from when service restarts on 14 April to end of seasonal service on 30 September. Go to the Menu Bar and click 'online booking'.
They seem to be the only sailings currently open to book.
where do you see that Kew Pier is closed permanently?
The season starts in April, they don't run Westminster to Hampton Court via Kew in the off season.
Web page of the operator https://www.thamesriverboats.co.uk/info/index.asp?page=westminster-to-kew-service-128
TfL River Services page - look at the yellow route on the map. https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/river/
I went to this site:
https://www.thamesriverboats.co.uk/info/index.asp?page=westminster-to-kew-service-128
Toward the bottom of the page, under "Kew Pier Location", I clicked on "View larger map".
As noted in previous posts, “
“OUR NEW SEASON COMMENCES
ON MONDAY APRIL 14TH“ (their capital letters)

I guess American school intervals in the winter are not enough to make any money on this route.
