My husband I just returned from London, but I wanted to share our experience at Westminster Abbey. We decided to pay an additional 5 pounds per person for a guided tour of the Abbey, given by one of the clergymen. At the conclusion of the tour, he invited anyone in our group to come back at the Evensong service, and he would reserve us seats in the Choir. He did so, and we were escorted to sit in the Headmaster's pew. This particular service was longer because they celebrated communion, and the attendees were invited to participate. It was a beautiful experience for us to celebrate communion in this very Holy Abbey where kings and queens have been crowned, married, and had funerals!
Wonderful experience! I enjoy attending worship services in foreign countries. It's an opportunity to see (and hear) these magnificent buildings used as they were intended, and to meet some very nice people.
Three years ago, my wife and I had the opportunity to attend the Evensong service at Westminster Abbey on Palm Sunday. It was absolutely marvelous. It was one of the highlights of our trip that year.
How does one arrange for a tour with a clergyman? This sounds wonderful! I plan to visit the Abbey in May.
