Has anyone done the early-morning tour mentioned in the title? If so, how did you get tickets? The Abbey website has no information about when tickets go on sale each month. This looks like a great way to see Westminster without the crowds, so I'd like to get tickets if I can.
It look like you have to email them to book the tour. I have a feeling they open it up month by month. March is already sold out.
See this page - https://www.westminster-abbey.org/abbey-events/special-tours-and-events/2024/june/abbey-unlocked-tour-june/? - and scroll down to Booking Information. There is an email address there where you can contact them.
I emailed them. I'll report what I find out once they get back to me.
Hi, linsey, I had emailed them as well since I will be there in early April, and here is what they sent to me:
Thank you for your email. Tickets for the Abbey Unlocked tours are only available via our ticketing site Westminster Abbey - Official Ticketing Webstore. We can only confirm available dates two months in advance, and we will release tickets for April tours within the next few days, so please keep checking our ticketing site.
So that's what I plan to do. I only have about 3 dates available that I can visit there with my grandkids, so hopefully I'll be able to book on one of them.
I heard back from the ticketing office at the Abbey, and they explained that, because it is a working church, tickets are not released too far in advance. They said tickets go on sale about a month in advance. They also told me I would receive an email when the release date is confirmed. While they could not comment on specific dates, they did say tours are most likely to occur on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The other days, the church is in use during the early morning.
Lindsey, they are booking for April now. I just checked. However, I did not realize it was that expensive. If it were just me, I'd maybe consider it but £360 for the 3 of us is just a bit too rich for me. Good luck getting yours!
