Wembley concert in September

Hi

Looking forward to seeing Billy Joel in September but really concerned about trying to get back into London after the gig. Not prepared to pay £300 for a night in one of the local hotels looking around Acton or Ealing but getting the message that the tube is going to be horrendous. Is it really that bad and should I have a rethink ?

Depends what you mean by 'horrendous' as although there will be a large crowd to shift, they are experienced at doing so. They can easily disperse everyone in about 90 minutes after a big event. Don't neglect either Wembley Stadium Station (main line to London Marylebone) or Wembley Central (Bakerloo) especially if you are on the far side of the stadium from the main entrance.

Acton and Ealing are aren't that well connected to Wembley except by bus.

If Wembley Stadium, look at which side of the stadium your seats are and plan your use of public transport from that side. If your seats were north and your station south, it would take some time to get round the stadium... And you'd be at the back of the queue. I say if the Stadium because Wembley Arena is also used for concerts, but much smaller.

Thanks Mike & Emma
Looks like we are seated on the South side of the stadium so I can look at the nearest station now.

I got caught like this during the London 2012 Olympics... Lesson learnt.
