I've got a business trip in two weeks. I'll be at work all day, but I'll have time on Sunday and of course my evenings. I'm hoping that there will be a vespers service that Sunday. I went to the Fitzwilliam the last time I was there, but I heard that it has been redone in the last year or so. True? Anyone have other suggestions? What about restaurants for evening meals. I may be on my own some nights.
As far as eating, the Eagle Pub is wonderful and has WWII history as well. I can't wait to eat there again this summer.
Pam , of course at this time of year , wandering the Backs would only work on a Sunday ( weather permitting ) , but we loved that . One other , lesser known , destination is the Scott Polar Research Institute on Lensfield Road . A smallish museum , but if you are familiar with the tragic tale of the 1910 South Pole expeditions , it is fascinating and what you will see there in the pullout drawers will bring you to tears . There is a bit to do in order to appreciate this ,and I know you must have much to do before you leave , but PM me for information if you think this might interest you .
Thanks....I'm still trying to figure out what to do with my long weekend. I may visit a friend on the south coast. I think that while I could no doubt get to Edinburgh, a trip to Inverness would be pushing it. If the south coast friend doesn't pan out, I get to be creative and think of somewhere new to go for a weekend in the UK.
