Weather in the Cotswalds in mid May

What is the weather like in Mid May in the Cotswalds?

It could be anything in the Cotswolds ( o, not a) in May. The day time temperature should be 16-18 C, you should have more dry days than wet, but you can never tell - we have had one dry day since Christmas, which is far from usual.
For packing, think layers, and bring a waterproof coat.

For future reference, (and bearing in mind that weather on any given day may vary from historic averages) you can find this type of info on various websites. I usually use weatherspark.com Just input a town or city and month. May should be cool or mild (depending on how you feel about daytime highs of around 15°C ( 60ish°F). 50/50 chance of cloudy day. 25+% POP.

I wonder how the popular walking routes have fared over the winter. With the amount of rain we've had this year, they must be an absolute mudbath at the moment. We'll need a dry spring for any low land to recover.

I have not even attempted a walk across unpaved paths since we had a freeze at Christmas when all the mud went hard for a couple of days. It will be an absolute mud bath - like ankle deep and a lot fields are flooded and impassable. Hopefully it’ll dry up a bit by May but it’s not guaranteed.

May used to be very beautiful in many parts of the Cotswolds. I'm speaking of the north Cotswolds, sort of north of the A40 and Lechlade. Bluebells finishing, hedges of Blackthorn and May and fields of dandelions. Trees all bursting, early spring flowers coming into their own. Village cricket, meals in the pub gardens.

Recently though it has been all one way or another. Either baking hot and threats of hosepipe bans or drenching wet with named storm after named storm and flooding here, there, and everywhere - such as the last three years. Two years ago it was hot and dry, last year was storm after storm, this year we had one dry and sunny day since mid December - which was two days ago on Shrove Tuesday - it has not dried up even a little except in some paved areas, back raining again yesterday and today and projected to for the next week.

On the other hand, I don't have a crystal ball, and I don't know when the storms and rain / snow will end and things start to dry up.

I wouldn't want to be seen to be predicting the future weather and conditions of walking paths in May, just telling you what we're dealing with.
