Rick in his 2019, doesn't have a walking tour. Pages 72-73. How would you walk it, if it was an all day outing?
Well in broad terms: Start at Liverpool station, walk to and through Spitalfields market to Spitalfields Church and then explore east from there, not much further than Brick Lane. Have a curry somewhere on Brick Lane, I like Eastern Eye Balti House. It’s most characteristic around these few blocks near Brick Lane. If you walk north up Brick Lane you’ll come to Beigel Bake for a salt beef beigel. Make sure you go to the one with the white sign.
That’s if like to explore on your own. I would highly, highly recommend the Street Art walking tour by Alternative London. They are brilliant, and everyone I know that’s been on it has loved it. It’s the ideal way to see the neighborhood, and will make you take a closer look at any of the street art around town.
Liverpool station
It’s Liverpool Street Station.
If there was a Liverpool Station (which there isn’t), it would be in Liverpool.
The London Walks Company does a guided East End Walk, which is quite popular. Many more walks--additional dates--will be added in spring and summer. They do a great group walk for a modest cost. You meet up outside a tube station exit or landmark, and your guide meets you and takes it from there. Make a reservation online or just show up on the day, pay, and join the group.

From their website: "If you can’t make one of the regularly scheduled walks, do think about booking one as a private tour. If you go private, you can have any London Walk on a day and at a time that suits your convenience. We’ll tailor it to your requirements. Ring Fiona or Peter or Niamh or Mary on 020 7624 3978 or email us at [email protected] and we’ll set it up and make it happen for you."
I would go for their group tour, which will be excellent, as all their walks and guides are.
The London Walks Company is listed in Rick Steves' London guidebook and is highly rated by members of this forum and by Trip Advisor.
