Any recommendations on walking tour companies who portage luggage, plan inn/B&B/hotel stays, and provide walking routes between? England and/or Ireland.
Self-guided walking? The 3 that we or close friends have used, all with good results, are Celtic Trails, Mac’s Adventures, and Contours.
Caminoways.com; also does Ireland.
Yes, self-guided. Thinking about The Cotswolds. Any experiences there?
The Cotswold Way was the first of the 10 long distance walks that my husband and I have done. That one I booked myself but then decided to let one of the companies do it. Seven of those we used Mickledore Travel whom I highly recommend. The other two were walks that were not offered by Mickledore: the Cornish Coast Path (we used Western Discoveries) and the Dartmoor Way (we used Encounter Walking Holidays). Those companies were excellent to work with as well.
Thank you!
I have used Cotswold Walks for several walking holidays. In fact, just this past summer, my husband and I walked the entire way. They have numerous guided and self-guided walks from which to choose.
We used Cotswolds Walks about 10 years ago on our first multi-day walk (circular to/from Bath) and they were fabulous. If you are looking specifically at the Cotswolds, I recommend them. If you are looking elsewhere in the UK, I recommend Contours. We used them for the West Highland Way years ago, and did two walks this September with Contours, one in Wales, and one in England. I think the prices are great, the information for the trip is excellent, and they were always very responsive to any questions I had.
Thank you! We’ve been looking at Cotswold Walks and they seem to have reasonable pricing and the right durations for us.
Thanks to everyone for these ideas! My wife and I love to walk, and these companies offer some ideas that I hadn't thought of. We'll be taking full advantage!
