Walking in Cornwall

My friends and I want to go on a walking holiday in Cornwall in September 2016. We’re interested in the sort of tour where we walk on our own from inn to inn, while someone else drives our luggage from place to place. From browsing on-line, I know several companies offer such tours – I’m wondering if anyone can recommend any one in particular?

We used Celtic Trails for several short walks in England and Wales last May, and were very pleased with the arrangements, including the accommodations chosen and the maps and directions. Their walking holiday in Cornwall is a bit different as they do not have a set itinerary on their website; since the path is so long they break it into nine sections and you decide which one or more of these you wish to do.

We worked with Nathan and he was very responsive to our needs and questions.

We did do a bit of walking in Cornwall on our own as part of the trip. We based in Port Isaac ("Port Wenn" of Doc Martin fame) and walked the coastal path in both directions from there. We had beautiful weather both days and it was glorious. We were a bit hesitant to try this as I have vertigo and have trouble walking on cliff edges with a vertical drop on both sides. But it turned out fine--the path was not right on the edge but a few feet away; enough that I could manage. In some places there was a railing but I do not know if this is true everywhere along the path.

There are companies like Sherpavan that simply provide luggage transport and you book your own lodging. These would be less expensive, but we felt we benefitted from the experience and expertise of the Celtic Trails team in that they took care of all the logistics. The Cornwall Coastal path can apparently be a bit tricky in terms of appropriate distances each day! and working out the tides where there are estuaries to cross.

I have hiked with HF Holidays several places in the UK.
I really like the lodging they provide -
They have several different levels of difficulty offered in their daily hikes.

I was looking at Walkit Cornwall's website today. They're based in Falmouth. Between Doc Martin and Poldark I think the demand for Cornwall will continue to be on the rise. Dorset as well.

I too am attracted to HF Holidays but have not tried them yet. I thought their only property in SW England wasnthenSouthnDevon house but Insee they have St. Ives and Exmoor as well. I'll have a look for our trip next May!

The Classic Journeys Cornwall Walk is a guided trip, with 3 nights each in two villages, St. Ives and Fowey. I don't think that is what Pamela is looking for, but if you are interested, you could start your own thread to get more responses. It looks pricy to me.
