I'd like to see an evening show at the National Theatre in London. I'll be staying in a hotel about 3/4 mile east of there. Is it safe to walk from the theatre back to my hotel around 10:30 at night? This will be in June, if that makes a difference.
The area around the National Theatre is safe. It’s right on the South Bank which is busy with visitors at all times of the day and night. Where is your hotel though? If it is just a bit further along the river then you will feel very safe walking.
Which hotel?
BTW, sunset in London in June is around 9:30 PM.
Yes. You’ll be surprised how alive London is at 10:30pm.
I once traveled from the outlaying Richmond neighborhood to see Laura Linney at the National. At 11pm totally surprised to see nearly standing room only on the train back from Waterloo.
@Helen and @Frank II, I'll be staying at the Hilton Bankside, just off the A3200 road on Great Suffolk Street.
Very safe. Just walk along the river to the Tate Modern - your hotel is a couple of minutes away. The area will be busy at that time.
Agree. We often stay at the Premier Inn opposite your hotel so I know exactly where you are. It’s very safe at night.
Thank you all; this was so helpful!
