Visiting Tower of London on marathon day

Any help negotiating how to do this? Now just realizing the marathon will be run next Sunday, and this is the day on our itinerary to visit the Tower of London (in the morning).

Google the race route map to see if it will create a conflict for you. I was in London on the day of the marathon 5 years ago, and I avoided the Hyde Park area, but otherwise did not feel too restricted on activities for the day (I only arrived that morning, and my only plans were for Sunday roast at the pub near my hotel).

Here is the course map:

Tower of London area is near the end of the race, just before Mile 23. Morning could be a problem,—can you switch to late afternoon?

Or work around it. The course crosses Tower Bridge from south to north and then follows Lower Thames Street westbound. . You might be able to make your way to the Tower by starting on the south bank, crossing London Bridge, and using the Thames Path ( which passes under London Bridge) to reach the Tower. There are steps down from the bridge to the Thames Path, which runs right along the river. It might be crowded, though.
