While in London, in May 2015, we want to visit Highgrove Gardens and one of the Cotswold villages. We are renting a flat in the Notting Hill section of the city for the 8 days we will be in London. What kind of public transportation is available from the city to Highgrove Gardens? Is there public transportation from Highgrove to the Cotswold or vice-a-versa? Which Cotswold village is the best one to visit?
As Highgrove is the private home of HRH Prince Charles (& Camilla), opening times are somewhat restricted.http://www.highgrovegardens.com/garden-tours.html
Hidcote Manor Gardens near Chipping Campden are open to the public most of the time.http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/hidcote/
Hidecote Manor Garden was fantastic. We were there in early September and it was beautiful. I have to imagine that springtime would be equally as good or better. We stayed in Chipping Camden for several days while touring the Cotwolds. I have no idea how you could do both without a car. I believe that the tour company London Walks (www.walks.com) may do a day trip to the Cotswalds. I would guess that you can find other companies that go there as well. Try googling daytrip from London to Cotswalds and daytrip to Highgrove Gardens.
