Visit Glastonbury during Festival (but not for Festival)

Hi! We were planning on staying in Bath in June and doing a day trip via bus to Glastonbury and Wells. However, just realized that we will be in Bath during the Glastonbury Festival. Given the expected crowds, just wondering if this will potentially jeopardize our ability to take a bus to Glastonbury and Wells? The concern is if we plan and allocate a day for this day trip, if there is a risk that we might not be able to go due to crowds or sold-out buses, would it be better to allocate this day to a different day trip instead (and just pass on Glastonbury and Wells altogether)?

I would definitely avoid trying to travel to Glastonbury during the festival. The area will be very busy for the whole weekend. Much better to go somewhere else.

Which day would you like to visit Wells? The traffic heading in that direction will be heavy on the Thursday and Friday before the festival weekend. I would think by Saturday you’d be ok to travel as everyone will already be on site by then, and I don’t think Wells itself will be impacted by the festival.

The two days to avoid are Wednesday 21st June, when the vast majority of festival goers arrive and Monday 26th when they all go home. As long as you avoid the area in those two days you will be fine.
Although the festival is named after Glastonbury it's not actually in the town. The site is in Pilton, much closer to Shepton Mallet than Glastonbury anyway.
