Visit Churchill war rooms after 4pm

From 1 July-31 August Churchill War room opens from 9.30am to 7pm, with last admission 5.45pm. We are looking to visit around 5pm as it fits into our schedule best but there is no option of booking tickets beyond 4pm. Is it walk-in only after 4pm? Has anyone had any experience of what the queue & wait time is like later in the afternoon, around ~5pm? I tried but wasn't able to find a contact email for CWM, and their online FAQ does not address this particular question. Thanks in advance!

I emailed [email protected] and they confirmed that the last online ticket is for 16:00. Anyone has any idea of what the queue is like around ~5pm? Thanks!

I would book for 4 pm then and get there in time. It's well worth it.

We were there last year at this time and walked up at about four worried we wouldn't get in or only have a short time. There were 10-15 ahead of us but we pretty much got right in and was able get all of the way through with no problem. If you can buy tickets early to avoid the ticket lines which is the thing to always due every where and dont miss this one it is worth a second visit next time we stop in London on Sept 27 this year
Enjoy & Safe Travels

Thanks everyone! All good suggestions! I'll see if I could re-arrange itinerary to squeeze Churchill war room in before 4pm. If not we'll try our luck and turn up around 5pm and hope to get in in time for a 1- 1.5 hour visit, and leave a more thorough tour for the return trip!

We were at Churchill rooms with tickets when they opened but I notice at other places in the UK was that late in the afternoon was a good time to visit. We went to the Roman baths in Bath in late afternoon and there was very empty next to earlier in the day. And friends who went to the castle in Edinburgh late afternoon actually had fewer crowds than we did getting there when the gates opened.

I think it could be a good strategy.
