Has anyone been to St. Augustine's Abbey in Canterbury recently and done the virtual reality exhibit? The promotional material says: "Visitors can now experience the abbey as it would have appeared in the early 1500s with virtual reality headsets that enable visitors to ‘walk’ through parts of the 16th-century monastery and experience the site in an immersive way." I am having a hard time finding information about the price.
I was just there a couple of weeks ago but didn’t try this. I saw the people in the VC sitting at the far end of the room and now realize they were wearing the virtual reality goggles. I didn’t find the person at the entrance particularly helpful and she didn’t mention this. Generally the staff at heritage sites are helpful and want you to have a good visit. Must have caught her on a bad day.
I’d say just go and enjoy. If this is what I saw they are just a couple of cubicles at the end of the room. No line the day we went if that’s your concern.
Thanks, Pam. I think it's something my son would enjoy so we will check it out.
