I've stayed there twice, in 2017 and 2018 and would happily do so again outside of air conditioning season. My trips were in September, and I had no heat issues then.
The Vincent House is one quite long block from the Notting Hill Gate underground station. There are some restaurants down near the station; there's also at least one supermarket in that area. There are no restaurants in the immediate area Vincent House. The location is quiet; there's little vehicle traffic on the street. The Portobello Road market is a quick walk away.
Vincent House serves breakfast. At the time I was staying there you couldn't opt out (which is what I usually do). I enjoyed the breakfasts. There was a good variety, and I appreciated that they always had hard-boiled eggs so I didn't have to deal with European scrambled eggs (which are undercooked by my very peculiar standards). Occasionally something special showed up; once it was bagels with cream cheese and smoked salmon--not something you expect at the VH price point. I learned it was important to take a good look around before I began filling my plate. I don't drink coffee or tea, so I can't comment on the beverages offered. In the past they also had a dinner meal plan, but I never ate dinner there.
I don't really remember anything about the room. I assume it had the usual small bed and dorm-room decor. I wouldn't have willingly gone back a second time if I hadn't been satisfied in 2017. The plumbing and Wi-Fi worked.
If you haven't already done so, email to get a rate quote for your specific dates. My stays were 10 days and 12 days, and I had the feeling I was getting a bit of a discount off the usual nightly rate. I don't know at what point such a discount might kick in. On both occasions I booked through VH directly. At the time they didn't have an online reservation tool, so I had to email my credit card number, because I didn't have phone service in Europe. Calling would be safer.
Edited to add: I should perhaps mention that there's little foot traffic along the street between the underground station and VH. It seems like a nice area, but if you're nervous about not having other people around when returning after dark, the location could be an issue for you. I'm a big-city person so more tolerant of things like that than the average female (or perhaps I should say "than the average person", because I don't know how men feel about such things). Still, I did notice how quiet it was.
Well that is good news...I already booked it awhile ago and then got concerned...last post on Trip Advisor was August and a terrible one at that...which surprises me. So the price is right for London...I am going at Christmas time....so I don't need air con...
Thank you kindly
