Victoria and Albert Museum Timed Entry From April 3

We will be ending our June UK trip with several days in London. On earlier trips we have neglected to visit the Victoria and Albert Museum. We will not miss out a visit this time! We like to plan ahead so booking a timed entry admission is perfectly fine with us. The V&A website does not appear to be booking entry times after April 3, 2022. I have searched for information but have not found any details regarding this policy going forward.

What I have learned is that it seems that many London museums are reviewing their entrance and admission policies post restrictions. If any contributors have information or insight I would welcome replies.

Best,

JB

they are likely pragmatic and not wanting to predict too far into the unknown future

I expect it's because we are moving to a world where all restrictions are removed and timed entry will no longer be necessary.

I had the same thoughts when I was planning my late April trip--I realized I needed to see the special Faberge exhibit at the V&A and booked a timed ticket (around $29 US) for that and also the Beatrix Potter special exhibit--I expect that includes the ability to explore the rest of the museum, and figured they must count the timed special tickets as part of the overall head-count.

In early February the Tower of London had timed tickets and within the last week or so that disappeared, so I expect things are opening up at museums and other sites.

Thank you all for your replies. It seems that things are changing. We will watch and be flexible as needed.

If anyone in your travel party wants to see the fabulous jewelry collection at the V&A, I highly recommend being at the museum when it opens and heading directly to that exhibit. The V&A is justifiably popular and gets a lot of visitors, but the only part of the museum where I've had trouble seeing what I wanted to see due to crowding was the jewelry exhibit. On two visits it was nice for the first half hour or so, and then a lot more people began pouring in.

The V & A cafe is an enjoyable spot for tea and to rest weary feet.

Christa - your special exhibition tickets do indeed give you the ability to see the rest of the museum.

I'm on the V&A mailing list, and this was in their latest newsletter:
"From 4 April you can visit us any day of the week....You will no longer need to book timed tickets for general admission to our permanent galleries, and exhibition tickets for Mondays and Tuesdays are now available to buy on the V&A website."
Enjoy your trip!

I just reserved tickets to the Tower of London for June 23 and had to choose a timed entry.
If timed entry is rescinded later, I'm wondering how I would find that out. Perhaps they will do as the Pitt River Museum in Oxford has on their webpage, "Pre-booking is no longer required for individuals and families.”
So glad for the information about V + A!
It certainly would make life easier if we didn't have to slot a time.
