Any suggestions, info re pro/con experiences with ACP booking and ticket purchases? Saving money is not critical, but getting the desired booking time is. We'll be in Scotland and England for six weeks, going point to point by train. (Southampton, Edinburgh, York, Oxford, Portsmouth). Thanks...!!

Use https://www.nationalrail.co.uk/ to search for tickets, which will then direct you to the train companies to buy the tickets.
Understand the different types of tickets: Advance, Off-Peak, Anytime and buy the ones most suitable for your needs, and when to buy them.
There is no reason to buy tickets from ACP - they are simply a re-seller.

Agreed - avoid resellers, but from the train operators. Follow the link ramblin on has provided.
