Kind of a dumb question, but... we're renting a car for our trip around England, and I was wondering if the car jacks are the same as US cars-- can we plug our car jack with usb port into the rental car, to charge up our phones while we drive?
Which rental company are you using? Best to contact them directly. Last Fall, I had a new rental from Budget in Belfast and don't recall a USB port. FYI this little item is an option to consider. I charge my iPhone and iPad with this when I travel. http://www.myunu.com/enerpak-vault-iphone-5-battery-pack.html Take a small adapter plug as well. Not much weight. Invaluable.
Yes the charger points are same size and voltage.
Thanks! We're renting from Alamo at Gatwick.
If you're talking about already having a plug that sticks in the lighter socket and has a USB slot or two -- what Richard said. For any car, anywhere in the world, always.
Ah clarity. The old plug in the lighter option. Now I get it.
Thanks for your help! Yes, we have a couple of the plugs for power outlets in cars that have usb ports in them. Just making sure those work in all cars. Good to know! We will bring ours along, then.
Bring a pigtail splitter if you're going to be using a GPS as well.
Guess I need a new car. Naw. The 98 Toyota 4 Runner runs just fine. Doesn't beep, whir, or talk to me. Bliss.
