Hi, we are flying international for the first time and still trying to work out how it all works. We booked through United but also have some Aer Lingus flights, we were able to pick seats for the United flights but not the aer lingus flights. United gave us a PRN for Aer Lingus- which does not work on their site. When I contacted Aer Lingus they said we can't work through them, only United. Sooo, is there any way to request seats? How will it work at check in, will I only be able to check into our United flights but not the Aer Lingus?
Any info on a situation like this is Much appriciated!
I could be wrong, but I thought I read on Trip Advisor that you can only select seats if you book directly with Aer Lingus. I don't know if that would apply to codeshares.
I would try and call United back and see if you get different results with a different rep.
I don't know, but maybe check that number United gave you again. In the past, I've been able to choose seats by going directly to that code share airline and putting in their booking number for that flight. Sounds like you tried to do just that, but the number didn't take. Call United back again and make sure you have the right code/booking number for Aer Lingus. Hopefully, it is just a matter of an incorrect number.
