UK Passport Saga Update

Hi,

A lot going on here today and a lot of good news.

My husband’s UK passport application has been approved and the passport is being printed and shipped. It was really quick after the initial misstep of applying for a passport renewal that was then changed to a first time adult passport on August 11. Yay!

In the meantime, we were evacuated this weekend due to the Hawk Fire on the mountain above our home. We spent the initial night of the evacuation in our car (we didn’t want to drive over the mountain late at night to our daughter’s home in CA and there were no hotel rooms to be had for miles around) and then drove to our daughter’s home the next morning. The blockade has now been lifted and we are going home tomorrow morning. This has all been very traumatic and crazy to say the least. Luckily our home and neighborhood have been spared. Kudos and immense gratitude to our brave firefighters.

All’s well that ends well despite a lot of hand wringing and nail biting.

That’s great news, that the Passport is on its way, and that your home is spared! I hope that the air quality around your neighborhood will be acceptable. Please don’t sent it here! ;-)

Firefighters are truly heroes. I hope they all make it through this safely, and that your worries are completely over. The big IMAX Odyssey movie has nothing on your ordeals!

Thanks, Cyn. The wildfire was an ordeal and put everything else in our life including the UK passport in perspective.

Wow, Mary, I’m glad you and your home and family are fine. We’ve never had to evacuate but friends have. I can’t imagine the stress. Good news all around. And yes, thank you firefighters!

Mary, so glad you are safe and your home and your neighborhood are still standing. What a frightening ordeal you've been through. And glad the passport dilemma has been resolved.
