UK ETA Fee increase April 9

I saw a little travel blurb that mentioned the pending fee increase and searched for official information. I believe that the blog in the link is the official UK government one. Someone please correct me if I’m mistaken.

Fee increase effective April 9, 2025 from £10 to £16. As a reminder once approved through the ETA is good for 2 years and is tied to your passport number. If you get a new passport then you will need a new ETA.

Not a huge increase in actual £ terms but if you have a larger group that needs multiple ETAs then it can worthwhile to get it done prior to the change.

Question... I went to https://uk-eta.com/uk-eta-application and got almost all the way through the application process when suddenly I was asked to choose a desired processing time. The least expensive option was £79.50. Does that seem correct? So, £10 for the fee and a big old processing fee on top? Thank you.

As a basic rule, government sites use government domains. For the UK that's gov.uk. Most applications take only a few minutes.

Only if you really want to give a load of money to some people to do what you can do yourself via HM Government’s website and app.
