The UK plans to switch all egates to facial recognition technology and no longer require passengers to insert their passport.
The system is expected to be fully operational early next year at all UK borders that currently use egates.
At first, only British passport holders will be able to use the facial recognition technology but eventually it will be extended to other nationalities that are allowed to use the egates.
Let's hope its implementation runs smoother than EES.
