UK COVID test standards

The UK government website states

The test must meet performance standards of ≥97% specificity, ≥80% sensitivity at viral loads above 100,000 copies/ml

For anyone who has gone to the UK or even transited LHR, has there been a challenge as to the type of test you took?

Hi Laurel I wondered if you found out any more on this? I've been trying to look into this and there doesn't appear to be a list of examples provided by the UK as to which tests definitely fulfill this spec, whereas other countries such as Canada do provide a list of which tests are definitely acceptable to them. I've found documentation that the Abbott ID Now SARS-COV-2 Rapid Results Molecular NAAT Test which is what you get if you book a rapid PCR at CVS and is also offered at Walgreens does fulfil the requirement, and have seen reports of it being accepted for the UK, but also a couple of older reports where it wasn't accepted - be so much easier if the UK could list all common tests accepted in addition to giving the spec.

Hi Anne. I have not found out any more. In fact, we changed our flights to avoid the UK and are going to land in Frankfurt instead, then on to Switzerland.

I don’t know whether anyone can answer this, but if you show up at Heathrow with your test, and it’s deemed unacceptable by the authorities, is an onsite test offered at the airport? Is it prohibitively expensive? How long before you get results?

Here are the basics.....a PCR test is good, an antigen test isn't.
