UK Adapter?

We ordered the UK/European adapter from Rick Steves and can't figure out how to use the UK portion. Any helpful hints?

Thank you

I'm assuming you bought the combination one? Either way, you just plug the UK adapter into an outlet in the wall (once you are in the UK), and then plug your own device into the front of the adapter (the part facing you). It's the one with the very square-ish, flat plugs. The smooth round plugs are for the rest of Europe.

And flick the socket switch on, which you may not have encountered in North America.

Down is On in the UK. Many, but not all, wall switches have a small red patch on the top of the switch which is only visible when the switch is down. The Red is to tell you that the power is now on.

Be aware that uk voltage is 230 voltage 50 hertz. Too high for appliances from the US such as hair driers or curlers, unless they are dual voltage.
Chargers for phones should be fine, check the input voltage range.
