Two Together Railcard app

Can anyone offer information or experience with the Two Together Railcard app? It looks really new but very handy. I have downloaded the app and it seems to gives me the option (not yet pursued) to purchase the Railcard.

I have checked out the actual website and in at least one place I have seen a link to completing the application online and that I will get a code via email that is used to add the railcard to my phone. The app also says it can be used offline.

Apparently this will save stopping at a station to finish paperwork and get a plastic card. I just wanted to check in to see if anyone has used it yet or knows more about it. Thanks!

A lot of people are using the Railcard app now, quite successfully.

The only concern I have is that online purchases of railcards used to only be available to UK residents. I don't know if foreigners can purchase one using the app, and none of my usual sources can confirm either way. After you try can you please update us?

Do you fancy being a guinea pig?

It should be OK, only issue for you is how it may handle non-UK details (i.e. addresses if these are required).

Try it and see.

Do note with the digital railcards that although you do not need to have internet access at the time it is checked with your tickets, you do need to have connected within the previous 72 hours. Also don't let your battery go down too far ...

As a side point I see that paper Network Cards for one are posted to non-UK addresses, according to the relevant FAQ. It may have different terms, not having national validity.

That's an interesting one, Marco. I should have thought that the one railcard not likely to appeal to foreigners is a Network railcard.

But then again maybe it is for making life easier for the Eurostar commuters with a French residence and spending the week working in The City. hmmmm

FYI if the app doesn't work....... It is very easy to get a Two together railcard at the first manned train station you arrive at on your trip. You can make reservations and buy tickets in advance without any difficulties, just click that you have the two together railcard. Have the printed out application completed and the required photos handy. The clerk will sell you the railcard and put it together for you as well as print out all of the tickets you have purchased for you. Takes about 20 minutes.

I am reporting back on my lack of success in applying for a railcard either online or using the app. The form (obviously both ways) gets stuck on postal code - since mine in Texas doesn't fit UK format.

So I will just bring my printed paperwork and photos and do it at my first station. It was definitely worth a try, though, to get it done ahead of time. I see how to get my tickets now, noting that I have/will have the railcard. So that's ok.

Thanks, everyone!

This is what we did for your two together railcard......I went ahead and purchased all the tickets on line, marked that we had the railroad card. Then the first time we were going to use the tickets went up to the counter and punched the two together railcard, so simple and easy. Make sure you both have passport size picture of yourselves for the railcard.

Thanks, Robin! That's the current plan. I was just hoping for a way to do it online ahead of time. :)
