Two Together Rail Card in England

Is it worth spending 30 pounds to purchase Two Together Rail Card in England? We will make at least 2 trips, one from Heathrow Terminal 5 to York, in a few days later from York to Glasgow to meet our tour.

If your total fares will be £90, it's worth getting.

Your London King's Cross to York, then York to Glasgow, fares are very likely to exceed that even if bought well in advance and travelling at unsocial times.

Two Together is also valid on the Elizabeth Line/Thameslink route to Kings Cross St Pancras (via Faringdon), and on the Heathrow Express.

For two of you it will certainly be worth it

I purchased a Two Together rail card for our 3 train trips in June...KGX-YRK, YRK-EDB, and EDB-KGX. I definitely thought is was worth it, especially since the accrued savings allowed me to splurge on 2 first class tickets from EDB-KGX. Side note: I was only asked to present the rail card once when our tickets were scanned on board.

Price the tickets without the rail card and then with the rail card. There are a few restrictions when using the card so plots your times accordingly. I’m sure it will be worth it. And remember the ticket is good for a year from purchase. Though I purchased my train tickets from home indicating I’d have the rail card, I didn’t buy the card until we were actually in London, one day before our first train journey. I even saved 1/3 off our ferry journey from Greenwich to Westminster Pier…that was a surprise at the ticket booth in Greenwich!

I had trouble trying to do it online with the photos? Also restricted hours I think. Only a few trips so we went without..

The only time you can't use your Two Together Railcard is at morning peak times, ie before 0930 Monday to Friday.

On weekends and public holidays this restriction doesn't apply.

You need to do the math(s). The initial outlay is £30 but saves you 33% on rail tickets, so if you intend spending more than £90 in total, it is worth getting. You can check prices and even book tickets if you wanted to on www.nationalrail.co.uk
