Two Together or Senior Railcard?

My husband and I- both over 60- are spending 2+ weeks in England in May. We will be taking some city-to-city trains e.g. London to Bath, York to London and are also going to spend 5 days in London. We are trying to decide between the Two Together train pass or Senior Railcard. Both give 30% discounts and neither can be used during morning rush hours. The Two Together has a lower initial cost= 30 pounds total versus 30 pounds each. I am wondering if there are any differences we should know about e.g. can one pass, but not there other, be used for travel on the London Underground? Any other thoughts on which train pass to get? Thanks all!

With a 2T you have to be together on any journey you make, one of you can’t use the card without the other. If you plan to stick together at all times then it’s a better option than 2x Senior Railcards

Neither is valid for use on London Underground, but they can be used on London Overground and National Rail trains within London if there are any you intend to take.

If you are not planning on taking any trains that start earlier than 9:30 am, then two together is a better option. The senior card can be used earlier in the day except in the London/Southeast areas( M-F)

The Senior Railcard IS available on London Underground. All you have to do is to get any member of gateline staff to register the railcard on your Oyster Card. That only has to be done once for the year (or the 3 years if you have a 3 year railcard, like me). Yes you have to use Oyster, not contactless to be able to benefit from it.

Senior railcard can be used at anytime. Or at least mine can.

Thanks!! I think the Senior Railcard will be the better choice for us due to more flexibility and the ability to get discount travel in London. And...there should be some benefits from being over 60!

Two senior railcards will cards £60.00, a Two Together Railcard would cost £30.00.

a 2 together Railcard begins to pay off after £100 has been spent on fares with it. 2 Senior Railcards take twice as long.

If you are getting 2 Seniors because of 34 percent off on tube journeys that is a whole lot of tube journeys. £100 of tube journeys before you catch the 2 together.

Last year we got the Two Together card because we knew we wouldn’t be taking the train separately. As pointed out previously, that card is half the price of two Senior Railcards.
