Two nights one full day in London - Resident hotels?

My family of six will be in London for two nights in May. Currently have three rooms booked at the Resident Kensington.

We hope to see a show our first night and then have one full day to tour London. We are tacking on these two days in London at the end of our Scotland trip. We fly home from London and will be arriving by train from Edinburgh. I've been focused on planning Scotland trip, so have not thought much about our plans in London, but want to get hotel secured.

Just want to maximize our time and not spend too much time traveling to our hotel from train. Any advice appreciated. I know there are several other Resident hotel locations. This was a group of hotels that was recommended to me.

Look at the Premier Inn chain as well.

Stay in tfl Zone 1 otherwise you’ll be forced to do what you don’t want to do: spend too much and wasting too much time in transport.

Check availability at these Premier Inns
County Hall
Victoria
Tower Bridge
Holburn
Aldgate

Use the Underground. Each family member will need a card.

I've stayed at the Resident Kensington (back in its early years when it was called Base2Stay), and liked it a lot. It's a convenient walk to the Earl's Court Tube station, which is on the Piccadilly Line. If you are flying home from Heathrow, you can get on the Piccadilly Line at Earl's Court Tube station and ride it all the way to the airport, no changes. I found that to be convenient.

I believe you'll arrive at King's Cross rail station from Edinburgh. The Resident Kensington isn't all that convenient to King's Cross. The Piccadilly Line serves the King's Cross - St. Pancras Tube station, however, so you should be able to take that line from the King's Cross tube station to Earl's Court station, and then walk a few easy blocks to the hotel. Of course as a group of six you could also take a taxi - or two - from King's Cross to the hotel. (I'm not sure how many passengers with luggage a black cab can accommodate.)

There are closer hotels to the West End theatre district and you should look at the suggested Premier Inns. However, during my stay at the Resident Kensington I didn't feel I was too far out from the attractions i wanted to visit. It is within Zone 1 of the Tube system.

The good news about Earl's Court station is that there's step-free access from the Piccadilly Line platform to the street, which is handy when you have luggage.
