The Underground looks like it will be on strike when we're in town (July 23-28). Any tips on how to get around?
What is going to be a practical way to go sightseeing?
Walk a lot and take those double decker buses that go everywhere the tube goes (it is cheaper than the taking the tube anyway) as needed.
Use the ap to plan your trips but you need data or internet access

This is a rolling strike so it will operate sporadically.
Walking and buses will be the way to go.
Most search apps will give you the option to filter buses as a preference to help with planning.
This is the current situation with next week’s tube strikes - https://tfl.gov.uk/campaign/strikes
Note all the alternatives that will be running normally e.g. Elizabeth line, buses, DLR, Overground.
A couple years ago when we were there, we walked a lot the days the tube was on strike. Our hotel was by the Gloucester tube stop which is not ideal when there is a strike. We tried to take a bus, but the roads were so crowded, we hopped off and walked; it was quicker.
Next week's tube strike has been called off.
Thanks for the good news !
Confirming the tube strike has been called off.
it is technically "suspended" but will sure look like it is cancelled..
Upon the advice of forum members I started using the Citymapper app. It’s great for London as it adds in details such as which end of the train to use and at the larger stations which exit to take.
Have a great trip.
