We will be arriving in London on a Friday afternoon, and staying near the Earls Court tube stop. We have tickets for a Thames River dinner cruise boarding at 7:30 pm from Westminster Millinium Pier. It appears that we can take the District Line direct from Earls Court to The Westminster tube stop, near the river. Given that this will be on a Friday evening in rush hour, is this the best option? About how long should the tube ride take that time of day? Thank you.
It will take the same time as it always does- 11 minutes on the tube, then a 7 minute walk to the Pier.
You are going against the flow of the rush hour, and after the peak of the rush hour.
If you are not landing until the "afternoon" there is not much buffer to cover for any kind of flight delay or a flight retiming to later than booked. On that basis I am not sure that I would have booked this for arrival day, but it is what it is.
Take the District line to Westminster - 11 minutes. Head for the Westminster Pier exit (exit 1) and walk away from the bridge/Elizabeth Tower when you get above ground. It's 1 to 2 minutes to walk from the Underground exit to the pier.
The Underground option is your best option any time. The route will be busy but it always is.
I should have specified that we will be coming into London from Bath on the train. Which brings up the question: How is the best way to get from Paddington rail station to Earls court tube station? Can we take the District line for that as well?
Yes, District Line 4 stops from Paddington to Earls Court
