I'm looking at train tickets from Cambridge to Hampton Court. The ticket includes the train from Cambridge to London Kings Cross, then tube to Vauxhall, then train from Vauxhall to Hampton Court. This implies that the cost for the tube is included. How does this physically work? Does the ticket need to be swiped or read at Kings Cross to enter the underground and again at Vauxhall to exit?
Or do I have to pay separately for the tube portion?
The Hampton Court site info says that its in Zone 6 so you can use Oyster Pay (card?) as you go on trains to Hampton Court. Do I use this just at the tube? Can I use an Oyster Card starting at Cambridge?
You can see I'm confused. Help is appreciated.
Thanks, Fran
Just the info I needed. Thanks, Fran
You could just buy a ticket from Cambridge to London Terminals and use an Oyster card to complete your journey. However, without knowing your other travel plans in London it isn't really possible to say whether that makes sense. It wouldn't probably if you weren't making any more journeys that day.
When you get your ticket for the train journey, have a look at it. If, on the bottom row of printing, about in the middle of the line under "route" there is a little crucifix type cross, or a "+" then it is valid for the connecting Underground ride. In once, and out once through the barriers, only valid for the most direct connection.
If there is no cross, or if it says something like "Not Via London" then it isn't valid.
