Tube from Victoria to Heathrow vs Heathrow Express

I have a 4pm flight on a Tuesday from Heathrow T5 to the US. I will be staying in the Belgravia area, walking distance to Victoria station. I’ll be journeying to Heathrow solo as my companions have a morning flight. Which would be more expedient, traveling to Heathrow by Underground or taking Tube to Paddington to get on Heathrow Express. Is there any other option I could consider? I do not want the expense of a taxi or Uber.

If it were me, I’d just take the tube to Heathrow. It will take under an hour. Take the District line to Hammersmith and change there to the Piccadilly Line to Heathrow T5. The Piccadilly line is just on the opposite side of the platform so there is no long walk or stairs to climb to make the connection.

I find changing from the circle line to the Heathrow Express at Paddington to be a pain with luggage and it rarely saves any time once you factor in the walk and waiting.

Another option would be to take the coach form the Victoria Coach station to Heathrow. I’ve never taken the coach.

I agree with everything Laura wrote.

The cross platform change at Hammersmith is about 20 feet. The walk from the tube to the Heathrow Express at Paddington is a long walk. It will also cost you more even if you bought the ticket a decade ahead of time.

The only thing I will add is that not all Piccadilly line trains go to T5. Just wait until one that does. It shouldn't be long. The arrivals board will say "T2,3 and 5" and so will the train.

The Victoria Coach station, where you get the coach to Heathrow, is just a few minutes walk from Victoria Station and close to Belgravia.

I can't count the number of visitors with large bags over the years I have seen struggling up and down the stairs at Paddington for the Circle line across Praed Street. Not so much now as there are more alternatives available but for anything along the bottom of the Circle / District taking the Piccadilly line first as outlined above remains the sensible way.

Underground to Baron's Court (same easy platform change, not as busy as Hammersmith) then Piccadilly line to Heathrow

Ditto. I, too, always change at Baron's Court, so easy and uncrowded.
