Trooping the Colour

We will be in London in June for Trooping the Colour - not planned, just worked out that way. While it is exciting for an American (this American, anyway) to be able to experience royal pageantry, I have some concerns. Specifically: 1) Will we actually be able to see anything and 2) will we be able to do anything else that day? We will be within walking distance of the parade grounds, so we don't have to worry about public transport to get there, but does anyone know if other attractions (such as museums) close and if so, for how long? (Edited to correct the name of the event!)

ppy,

I don't believe any of the Museums close during the Trooping of the Colours, at least not that I've observed. The one suggestion that comes to mind is get their early to stake out a good spot, as it most likely be dreadfully crowded.

The Guards Museum may be closed as a question of access. Can't see why anything else would be closed apart from some streets in the immediate area.

And I was feeling so smug about spelling "colours" correctly! Thanks for the correction. I will definitely plan on being on site early, and I'll check the museum websites closer to the date to see what is open and closed. Thanks for the replies.

The key to getting a good spot to stand is to get there early, so will everyone else, it's well worth being there. . I've seen this event twice in the last few years, the Victoria statue area is one spot, just expect lots and lots of fellow spectators.

and if you should have to miss the show, the show is broadcast live on national TV, and there will be highlights in the evening for you to watch after dinner.
