Buyer beware! Travelodge Covent Garden and probably all the Travelodges charge the entire amount on the credit card rather than just a hold. This was not apparent in the tour guide or on the website when booking. Seems like a good hotel but we were disappointed given our stay is in September. This means if you didn’t plan on paying your credit card right away, the credit card may start charging interest.
It’s very clearly stated on the website
“All payments are due in full at the time of booking”
This is the model of budget hotels. Premier Inn is exactly the same. The very cheapest rates do not allow cancellation. It’s part of why they are able to offer the lower prices.
Thank you for the reminder of the importance of reading booking conditions before pressing that “reserve” button. You are not the first person not to realize that they were prepaying for their room at a hotel, and perhaps you have helped someone else from having the same disappointment.
Thank you all for your responses. We totally missed the message when booking. Nevertheless, we didn't have a ton of options in our price range for this time of year. The hotel ratings look pretty decent. If anyone has stayed there, what was your experience? Thanks.
