Travelling in London - Which card?

Hi All,
As some of you probably (hopefully) know I plan to travel to a few countries. My flight's on Sunday and I'm more or less settled on how I want to spend my time. I just wanted to know if all these attractions fall into specific Zones, and which card makes more sense - Oyster or Traveler? Around 5-6 days in total.

Here's the link where you can see my entire plan

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AnrLPwp6tHypdDRLeWFsT1VmLU1QMFUxS0RQcWZ0SHc&usp=drive_web#gid=19

Please take a look only at the London section, I'll make similar posts on the other forums for the other countries.

Thnx
Arvind

Oh fantastic. Thanks Nigel. So then... considering I am staying around 5-6 days - is the Zone 1-2 Travelcard my best bet? From this link?

http://www.londontravelpass.com/prices.html

Oyster card for Zone 1 seems to be around 8.40 pounds a day for unlimited travel, which works out to be a bit more.

Its 3 of us..Mom, Dad and me - is there anything like a "Group card" I can buy maybe?

Thanks for your constant help on my questions :)

Since you asked, there is no group deal for 3. You need at least 10 people for that kind of thing.

You seem to be packing your London days far more than some other cities.

Thanks Marco.

Thanks so much for that detailed reply Emma. Much appreciated :). A few quick points:

  • Jetlag: We're actually landing on 18th, a day before. I haven't put anything on the calendar for that day, anything we do is a bonus.

  • Day 1: Yes, only the ones in blue, we want to go in and visit as such. The rest we'll just pass by and look at, or stroll around the area a bit. Thanks for the tip on the Sherlock Holmes museum, I'll keep it in mind. HaHa .. I'll just dump Victoria station from the list - I just thought it was a famous station and it might be nice to see it.

  • Day 3: Yes, you're right. I'll try and juggle the Museums around into the other days. Thanks.

Lastly, what's the best (cheapest) way to get to my hotel, (ST.Athans in Kings Cross) from the airport (LHR)?

Great. Thanks Emma, I will follow that advice.

Another question is - Since Dad has somewhat restricted mobility, due to his arthritis, is there a way to find out which stations have elevators so we can use those? Are there maps inside each station which depict where these are?

Great. Thanks a ton Nigel and Emma - you guys rock :).

I planned a journey from Heathrow to Russel Square right now and it seems okay. The tfl website seems really nice, I will use it extensively during my travel there and mention any inconsistencies later, if at all any arise.

It won't take you long playing with the site to realise that with only a few exceptions in central London the underground stations with completely step free access are either those (re)built in the last twenty years or so, or those modified because they were serving 2012 Olympic/Paralympic venues. There are some others that can be navigated entirely with escalators.
