Traveling to the Cotswolds need advice

Hi, does anyone know if you can rent a car in Morton-in-Marsh? I am getting conflicting reports when I google. We are training from London to Bath, Bath to Oxford, and Oxford to Morton-in-Marsh or any central location in the Cotswolds. Our itinerary is not set in stone, so I welcome suggestions. We want to prevent driving in the UK larger cities. Thanks so much!

A previous post on here confirms that there is no car hire in Moreton in Marsh.
Appreciating that you do not want to drive in cities (and Oxford is pretty bad), Enterprise has two outlets outside the centre of Oxford on the ring road A34, you could take a taxi to one of these and be on your way without the hassle of driving in town.

Last June I spent two weeks in Moreton without a car, including a few visits to Oxford.

Can you rent a car in Morton-in-Marsh?

No.

One plan is to stay in Moreton-In-Marsh and take day trips with this company:

Go Cotswolds tour company, leaving from Moreton-in-Marsh, a Cotswolds village that's a short train ride from Oxford:

Or you could stay in Oxford (lots to do there) and take a short train ride to Moreton to catch the tour.
They have different tours that go to different Cotswolds villages, so you could do more than one.

Going in April and booked with gocotswolds and my interaction with them already has been very welcoming and extremely helpful--can't wait!

Thank you! I think we might just stay in Morton-in-Marsh and take public transport or tours. The car rental situation is challenging- closed on half day Saturday and all day Sunday in Oxford and non-existent in MIM. Still researching!

I know you want to avoid driving in the larger UK cities, but Heathrow car places are open 7 days, all day. After your London segment you can take a tube or Elizabeth Line to Heathrow, the shuttle takes you to the car place, and once you are off the airport you are right on the Motorway network. You don't have to drive in the city at all. Granted the motorways around London are busy, and you can get stuck in traffic, but the best selection of cars is at Heathrow and if the opening hours of the provincial offices don't suit, that can be one solution.

From Moreton you can take local buses to Broadway and Chipping Campden (same route), and Stow, Bourton and the Slaughters (same route). Not ideal timetables but manageable with good planning.

Cheap bus to Stratford, about £13 train return to Oxford or Blenheim Palace: depending on the month, free bus pick up from Hanborough train station to Blenheim. Short wander around Woodstock, the Back Lane Tavern is a top pub.

Check out this cheap option: https://www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/transport/the-robin/where-can-i-travel/cotswolds-north/
Worked well for us for a trip to Winchombe (Sudely Castle, very enjoyable). Made it to Burford using the same service with one change.

Walking distance or short bus ride from Moreton: Batsford Arboretum and Cotswold Falconry Centre, Bourton House, Sezincote (top visit).
