Traveling to King's Cross from Heathrow

Hello!

We are arriving to Heathrow around 11:00 am on a Saturday morning in two weeks (late July 2017) and need to get to King's Cross to catch a train to Edinburgh...

How should we approach this piece of travel? Tube? Taxi? Train to Paddington Station and then taxi to King's Cross?

Thanks for any help/ideas readers can provide.

Tube directly to Kings Cross on the Piccadilly line from Heathrow, no changes. About an hour's journey according to Citymapper.

If you are worried about time, the Hethrow Express plus tube from there to Kings Cross should be faster ( easy connection from the Heathrow Express platform, just go upstairs and follow the path). Tickets bought 14+ days in advance are £16.50 instead of full price.

We took train direct from Heathrow to King's Cross, it went above ground too, the challenge was finding where to go when we arrived at King's Cross, down in one of the lower levels. Big place, asked for lots of directions.

When my friend from Mensa went to Scotland, her flight stopped at Heathrow but then continued on to Edinburgh. Flight option might be easier.

Totally depends on how much luggage you will have and how much time you have between landing at Heathrow and catching your train. Personally, I avoid taking luggage on the tube because . . . well, because I just don't like to, particularly with regard wrestling with it on stairs that are more often than not to be encountered. I would recommend taking the Heathrow Express to Paddington and then a taxi to King's Cross. Heathrow Express are also less expensive if purchased online ahead of time.

Seconding alisono. This is an example of trading cost for convenience. Hauling luggage around Tube stations is obnoxious, especially if you have more than one roll-a-board. Ditto on the trains.

Heathrow Express gets you to Paddington Station in 10-15 minutes. Unlike Tube trains, the cars are designed to carry people and their luggage. Once at Paddington, follow the line of arrows embedded in the floor to the taxi rank outside the building. I've done the Paddington-Kings Cross taxi trip in the evening rush hour twice and it was about 40 minutes. Saturday afternoon should be quicker.
