We are going to
Coventry late July to a wedding. Staying 3 days and then heading to york by car for 2 days. Have 4 days until flying out of London. Where could we go besides London? Would it be worth visiting Beatrix potters home( I love her)? How long to get there from York and how long to get to London. Where would you recommend we go? hELP
It would make more sense to cover Coventry then the Lake District then York to avoid zig zagging across the country. I would drop the car in York and take the train to London.
You could add another night in York and visit Harrogate, a traditional town.
Beatrix Pitters home is in the Lake District, I've been there and really enjoyed seeing it. It would be worth your time since you love Beatrix Potter.
End up in York, dump the car when you arrive (don't need it to see round York), and get a train to London (2 hours for 200 miles).
Another option before York is Whitby, but that is the opposite side of the country to the Lake District, you couldn't do both in the 2 days you have between Coventry and York, either or.
If you love Beatrix Potter and you have no plans to go back to England, then by all means go to the Lake District. It really is lovely. Just prepare yourselves for a not a lot of fun drive to get there.
