Traveling this weekend

If you are moving around this weekend in England, especially in the southern half of the country, you may want to consider how the August Bank Holiday will affect you.

As usual on the August Bank Holiday weekend, it is Notting Hill Carnival in that park of town. Expect busy tubes and buses.

There are extensive rail works, especially on the East Coast Main Line (and much else into Kings Cross), Virgin and London Northwestern Rwy into Euston and through Milton Keynes, and many trains not running on Thameslink.

All the details at https://www.nationalrail.co.uk/service_disruptions/222955.aspx

The weather is projected to be very warm to hot, especially in the southern half. Expect busy motorways, especially if they are heading somewhere cool or the seaside. That's Friday, Saturday and maybe Sunday; expect everyone going back home on Monday.

Nigel, thank you so much. Your advice is always appreciated. I am not traveling in England this week-end, but this was a good reminder to check the Forum even when I am across the pond. I leave for Edinburgh in 4 weeks!!!!!!!!

I hope that you don't break that heat record that was set earlier in the summer. I had a work colleague that experience the 100-degree Fahrenheit day earlier this summer. He did say that unlike NYC it actually cooled down at night. In NYC we're still dreaming about when we get to turn off the air con.
