Traveling from LHR to Southampton

I'm researching options for transfers from LHR (T3) to Southampton at the end of August. Our flight lands at 11:05 am and normally we're on our way out of Heathrow within an hour. There's a National Express coach departing at 11:15 and the next is 1:15. I don't mind booking a private car for the transfer but there is a sizeable price difference.

Looking for opinions and options.

TIA!

I just took the National Express. Sometimes flights are delayed. Alternatively, it allows time for lunch.

@emma - Yes, heading out on a cruise, however, we're arriving a couple of days early and the line we're sailing on only offers transfers from LHR on cruise departure date. I did check Interline and unfortunately, they only offer transfers to passengers on certain lines. I'll keep this in mind for the future!

If you book National Express from an airport, there is an optional £5 fee that allows you to catch the next available bus if your flight is delayed - so if you book the 11:15, and land early enough, then you're fine - otherwise get the 1:15

Look at various taxi companies from Southampton - see what they quote for a pick up - I've seen quotes around £70.

Other Alternatives would be the airport bus to either Reading or Woking station, then a train - but the last time I tried this it worked out more expensive than a prebooked taxi for two of us .

If you are arriving a few days before your departure, will you actually be staying in Southampton? I live nearby, and frankly, there is not a great deal to recommend it.
