Travel to London with a recovering Addict

My Wife and I are in the early stages of planning a return visit to London for about a week. We enjoyed London so much that I thought we would share the experience with our son who has never traveled.
We have one complication.
Our son has been in a Methadone program here in the states over 15 years. He goes 7 days a week for his Methadone dose so trying to plan any type of vacation is complicated. I thought we may be able to access his Methadone in London. So far I have been unsuccessful in my research.
Advice appreciated
Joseph

Josephh, I have no knowledge about what steps to take, but I did a quick Google search and found this place called the OAD clinic in London.

Here is what their website says. You might want to contact them, or contact your son's physician to see how to work this out. I hope this works out for you.

We offer this service for patients coming to work, study or just visiting the UK who are already receiving methadone maintenance treatment in their country (methadone, Subutex or Suboxone). We can liaise with your prescribing centre and arrange your prescription during your stay. This is a unique international model for continuity of care when you are staying in the UK.

Dear Joseph,

I wish you the best of luck with this. My niece with whom I am very close is also in recovery - I'd love to travel with her, but it may not be possible for a very long time.

Sending good karma to you, your wife, and to him,
Lydia B.

Joseph, I too have a family member in recovery. We are thankful that he is past the stage your son is in, but please know that more of us than you might think are wishing you well.

Hi Joseph,

Thank you for posting so honestly and with such concern regarding making your son's recovery a priority on your trip to London. Your topic is not one I have run across on the Forum before but it is important for many of us who want to travel and stay clean and sober at the same time. While I do not share the same addiction as your son, I am a recovering alcoholic sober for nearly thirty years and for me when planning our bucket list trip to Europe back in 2019, finding AA meetings was a must. From Day One I learned that the support of people who were going through what I went through and who had the experience of staying sober one day at a time no matter the circumstances - good or bad - was critical for staying sober and having any chance at enjoying life. This is true today as it was back in the 90s. I might suggest that in addition to seeing about a clinic to provide your son's daily need for methadone, that a search for recovery meetings in London would be another avenue of support while you are there. For myself, I found the two AA meetings I attended while in Berlin were beneficial and are one of the many fond memories I have of that trip. Best wishes to you and your family.

I would like to thank all of you for your thoughts and suggestions especially Mardee. I contacted numerous treatment facilities and all had suggestions to contact a GP. After contacting a few GP there was no response or we can't help you. There was one at the suggestion by Mardee. I am posting the reply from The OAD Clinic.
