It will be towards the end of this week when the service level to be offered by Avanti is confirmed.

However, as this is a strike by the RMT union, it is fully anticipated that a near normal service level will be provided between 8am and 4 or 5 pm.

The situation is complicated by engineering work on the direct Trent Valley Line meaning that trains are diverted via Birmingham.

I am aware of the interest due to The Open at Hoylake.

When there is news it will be posted on the forum.

National Express, flixbus and megabus all provide coach services from London- but as I say train service is expected to be provided. You just have to be patient.

Due to the engineering work the London North Western Railway stopping service to Crewe is curtailed, but they are expected to have service on the Euston to Birmingham line, change at Birmingham for the stopping service to Liverpool. Again details to be confirmed towards the end of the week. They will confirm times and open bookings on Friday 14 July- but confirm now that a one train per hour service from 0700-1900 to Birmingham then a 1 tph service from Birmingham.
