Travel insurance and ETA

I booked air return flight ticket for the destination - UK from departure date to return date but I travel on Eurostar and other train to France and Belgium within the period of travel date.

Travel insurance has two options: a single trip or annual multi-city trip.
Single trip but need to add a single destination or few destination: UK or UK, Belgium and France? I wish I choose Europe but cannot. The problem is, I might change cities like France or Belgium in case of strikes and protests. How? Thanks so much!

Which one should i apply for ETA or travel insurance first?

since your travel insurance is unlikely to be issued in the US or Canada, if I remember those are not your countries of origin, it is unlikely that many here will have knowledge of the details of insurance in your country. Probably somebody who knows the ins and outs of insurance in your country would be better to advise you.

Are visitors from your country required to have an ETA? If so, it is not a difficult process, depending on your passport. You don't need it until before you travel and it is valid for 2 years.

perhaps I am confusing you with another.

Are travelling from the US or Canada with a US or Canadian passport?

If you have booked your flights then you need to get travel insurance sorted now. The ETA can probably wait a bit but there is always a very small chance that it will be refused so probably better to get it now as well. That's assuming, as Nigel says, that you are eligible for an ETA.

I agree with the others that any answer to either of your questions is practically impossible without knowing for what country your passport was issued.

I have an annual travel policy which I really like (Allianz). You may want to check to see if there is something like that available to you. Then, you won't have to worry so much about last minute destination changes because you know you will be covered.

The ETA is easy to apply for. Just make sure you have the official app (UK ETA, has a crown logo) or website. There are opportunistic websites out there charging hefty fees for something you can easily do yourself on the official app or website. The ETA is good for two years, so why no apply for it now and just check it off your list?

Give Allianz or the insurance provider you are considering a call. They will be able to sort this out over the phone.

If you are from the US, and you want to have preexisting medical conditions covered by the travel insurance, you need to arrange coverage within 14-21 days (depends on the carrier) after making your first payment for the trip. If that doesn't matter to you, then just buy it before you go, allowing enough time to be approved, certainly at least 48 hours ahead. We just finished a multi-country trip and the insurer we purchased from told us to put our destination as the first place we were staying in a hotel in Europe.

Oh no! My questions in mind are: Which one should I apply for ETA or travel insurance FIRST? What i meant is, I should apply for ETA first then apply travel insurance or apply for travel insurance first and then apply for ETA.

My questions are: the issue with travel insurance is: there are only two options: single trip or annual multi-city trip.
If i choose a single trip and input the travel date period and then can i select "UK", "France" and "Belgium" OR only "UK" without including France and Belgium? The reason is, I bought air ticket (return trip) for UK only and i intend to travel in UK, France and Belgium so i have to go to France and Belgium via train and go to UK and return home on flight.

The ETA and travel insurance are two different things, so it doesn't matter what order you do them. Travel insurance should always be booked as soon as you have booked an aspect of your trip, like your flights. If something happens to you which means that you can't travel you won't be covered for cancellation if you don't have the insurance in place.

You still for some reason have not told us your citizenship, without which no one can properly answer your questions. We can say definitively that you need an ETA - you might need a visa.

For the insurance choose single trip unless you are going to make more trips this year. Then choose UK since you know for sure you will be staying in England. If it offers you the chance to add other countries then do so, but I seriously doubt it will.

single trip or annual multi-city trip

Regarding my single trip experience with Allianz: they didn't seem to care where I was going between my arrival and departure cities. They did not ask for any details regarding my total trip plans.

I check whether i am required to apply for ETA. It says I am required to apply for ETA.
I applied for ETA yesterday. I'm surprised that it got approved in few minutes.

I emailed the travel insurance agency some enquiries. It says just select few countries. That's all what it says so far.

If you need travel insurance, it's best to get it within 2 weeks of your first booking so certain conditions are covered.

May i know what certain conditions are? Example?

If you leave it too late, and an insurable event occurs before you depart, the insurance company may not cover your flight costs, for example.

You haven't said where you live, so it's hard to advise, but having lived on several countries, my experience is usually you'll be able to select regions when booking travel insurance. For example, my options with my policy are: "Asia", "Asia + Oceania ", "Asia + Europe", and "World". If you're required to choose individual countries, read the conditions carefully.

You still need to read the terms and conditions. I'm not sure but think you better clarify on travel insurance - If you choose UK only for single trip, you might not be insured for it if you travel to other countries besides UK when something happens to you in other countries. How?
