Travel from Southampton to London

What is the best way to get from the Southampton cruise port to London?

There are 4 methods.
1. Taxi to Coach station, National Express Coach to Victoria Station in London. I've done this before and it was quite easy and probably the least expensive option. I like that the driver loads the luggage under the coach and you aren't trying to schlep it on or off a train. Lots of taxis at cruise terminal. You should go ahead and purchase your ticket for the Coach in advance because they do sell out on cruise days.
2. Taxi to train station, Train to London. Second least expensive. Also works well.
3. Cruise line provided transfer. You end up on a coach to London directly from the cruise dock. Far more expensive than the taxi/National Express option.
4. Most expensive is a private transfer .

What is best? Cheapest would be the National Express bus, costing a bit over £5 and taking around 3 hours. Fastest would be a train, taking about 1 1/2 hours for a direct (no change) train. Most comfortable, and also exponentially most expensive would be a private car service, taking about 1 1/2+ hours, depending on traffic.

We took the National Express coach London to Southampton r/t last year. It was clean, efficient and cheap. It's a bus, so comfort is not their strong point, but it's not a long ride.
