Any suggestions as to the best and reasonably priced way to travel from Gatwick to Southhampton, Princess cruise port? We will be traveling on the morning of July 7th.

The least expensive way would probably be by National Express coach from the airport to the Southampton bus terminal, and then a taxi to the cruise terminal. If you are wanting "best" then a private transfer from Gatwick to the cruise terminal is what you should look at. We used West Quay taxi service in August last. They are based in Southampton.

There's a direct train every hour from Gatwick Airport to Southampton Central for GBP 15.30, which is a bit cheaper than the National Express coaches. It's a slow, local train that makes a bunch of stops, but it still makes the journey in under two hours, which makes it a bit faster than the coach as well. You can see your options at nationalrail.co.uk - look for trains with 0 changes, leaving at 9 minutes past the hour most of the day. Note that you can't yet buy tickets for July 7th, but you shouldn't need to - the GBP 15.30 is a walk-up fare.
Then your best bet is probably to take a taxi from the train station to the cruise terminal.
