Our group of four will be taking a Cotswolds tour the day after we arrive in London..not much time to figure out transportation.
Does anyone know how far the station is from Sloane ave? We need to be at station by 8AM so I better figure this out in advance..
Is Uber operating in London ?? I haven’t been able to get current information.
Thanks!
Where on Sloane Ave? Likely less than a mile - maybe 15-20 min on foot without hurrying. Or take the 211 bus. There's a very good website for planning trips around London: https://tfl.gov.uk. We used this trip planner all the time when we were in London last fall.
To figure out distances between places, or just to locate sites in London, use Google maps.
If your trip is not until March (so says your other thread) why don't you have time to figure out transportation?
Which end of Sloane Avenue?
What day of the week?
Can you use the TfL Journey Planner?
Uber has been banned from London but is still collecting fares.
Thanks to all of you for info..for peace of mind I want to plan how we are going to operate for the first couple of days in London and after that we should be able to figure things out. Thanks for the websites...!!!
Map-reading in London requires precision. Victoria Station is not Victoria Coach Station; Sloane Street and Sloane Terrace and Sloane Square are each slightly different, although close. Google Maps is getting better at answering questions such as yours. It shows walking, rapid transit and drive routes (don't drive!) and estimates duration of travel. The little darts marking departure and arrival points can be inexact, but certainly close enough to help. Sorry; I can't give a link since what I see at home is not where your link may be. The Google service augments the route planning on Transport For London https://tfl.gov.uk/
Google also shows restaurants, pubs, hotels.
Southam,
Downloading Google maps as we speak!
I'm sure we will have a few missteps along the way, but trying to be as fully informed as possible!
Hopefully, I can be of service to someone else after our return based upon our trip experiences.
Thanks!
Your first day in London.......you have to be at the train station by 8.....it's not far, have your hotel call you a cab. Afterall, a London Cab is an experience you should have once in life and for this short distance and four people it won't be much. At least not much more if payiing four bus fares.
Thanks Emma!
Have downloaded Citymapper app on my phone along with Google maps. We will definitely be walking alot so this will be so helpful as there is nothing worse than heading for a particular place and making a wrong turn and walking blocks out of your way.
This forum has been so helpful in planning for our time in London.
