transportation in london

Just looking for some recommendations on transportation in London. We are 4 people arriving at Heathrow Term 3 about mid morning and want to use private car / taxi to reach our hotel. Staying at Charlotte Guest House in Camden . Any suggestion for company to use? How far ahead should we book it? We know it would be cheaper to take train but think this would be less confusing for first day. What is best app for the London trains as we will be needing to use them for getting around the next few days. Thanks

Just Airports. Blackberry Cars.

Personally with 4 people with luggage I’d use a venerable Black Cab. Split the cost between the 4 of you.

Train trains or Underground ( tube ) trains?

For transportation once you're in London, use the Citymapper app.

I second @Claudia's recommendation both for airport transfers and the tube. For the tube, you can use the TfL Go App if you prefer to use an app versus website. In London when I wanted to use a cab, I either hailed one (fairly straightforward in tourist areas), asked the hotel to schedule a Black Cab, or if you prefer Black Cabs, you can use the FreeNow app. Uber works in London also.

There are three stations within a stone's throw of the Charlotte Guest House-
West Hampstead Thameslink- fast trains to Kings Cross and stations across Central London;
West Hampstead Overground- on the London Orbital Railway, including to Richmond and Stratford;
West Hampstead Jubilee Line (tube) for Westminster, Waterloo and Canary Wharf-

Overall a super convenient location.

I hope you’re aware that as well as being cheaper public transport would probably be quicker as well. A straightforward journey, Elizabeth line to Bond St and Jubilee line to West Hampstead.
